The Department of Geography of Nahata J.N.M.S. Mahavidyalaya started its journey more than a decade ago. As per West Bengal State University (affiliating university), Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) is there with both Honours and General courses. At present, the department has five teaching faculties along with two non-teaching staffs. The teaching faculty members have their different research interest like Population and demography, Geomorphology, disaster management, remote sensing and GIS, Land use study etc. Here student enthusiastically participates in different activities like, Group discussion, model making and presentation, observing important days etc. beside their regular classes. For developing better understanding among our students, traditional as well as modern teaching methods are applied simultaneously. The department is trying to offer certificate courses on remote sensing and GIS for the students of Geography department very soon. Right now there are two programs:
